Most likely, your Heating, Ventilation and Cooling (HVAC) systems are not performing at their optimal level. On average, HVAC systems perform at 60% of their capacity. Older equipment often performs poorly, but even newer models can waste a great deal of energy and cause wear-and-tear on your system that could cause premature failure.

If your Energy Auditor finds that your system is performing poorly, we'll perform comprehensive diagnostic tests to find the specific causes of the problems, and recommend the most appropriate, cost-effective solutions.

Keep in mind that when it comes to HVAC equipment, bigger is usually not better! In fact, equipment that's too big - or too small - for your needs can cause problems, leaving you with comfort issues and high energy bills. We'll do all the measurements and calculations to determine the right size of HVAC equipment for your home.

air-quality

The quality of the air you breathe can directly affect your family's health. Pollutants and irritants in the air can cause asthma, allergic reactions, constant tiredness, and many more conditions. For your protection, we'll ensure that your home's ventilation equipment is working properly, and your indoor air is clean and fresh.

Did you know that a majority of the air you breathe in your home comes from your crawl space? Moisture and mold can create a musty smell and release toxins that can affect your family's health. Closing your crawl space keeps mold away and converts it into a semi-conditioned dry space - and saves you money on your energy bill. That's just one ventilation solution we'll explore to help keep your family healthy.

insulation

When most people think of insulation, they think of pink fiberglass insulation (batt insulation). However, modern technology has given us many different types of insulation with various features and efficiencies.

We have insulation that's water-proof, anti-fungal/anti-mold, and high-density insulation, etc. Blown-in insulation is best suited for hard-to-reach places, like inside walls. We also have products that work in conjunction with insulation, such as radiant barriers that reflect heat to keep attics cool, and insulated attic hatches.

Specific situations in your home may require different types of insulation. We understand the building science behind proper insulation, and we'll determine the best type of insulation for your needs and budget.

air-sealing

Air Sealing a home is one of the most cost-effective ways to make a home more comfortable and energy-efficient. Air leakage through windows, doors, walls, rim bands, floors and ceilings has been shown to increase heating and cooling costs 35-40%.

Unsealed chases and cavities in attics and crawl spaces bring unconditioned and unfiltered air into living areas. Sealing these air leaks will not only make your home more comfortable and energy efficient - it'll improve the quality of the air you breate. Wherever possible, we use environmentally friendly caulks, foam, insulation board, etc., along with good building science to reduce air infiltration.

duct-sealing5

Leaky ducts are a leading cause of poor indoor air quality, as pollutants are drawn into the system, re-circulated and distributed throughout the house through the heating and cooling systems. Leaky ducts also contribute significantly to a home’s energy loss.

We use Duct Blaster® equipment to pinpoint leakages in the HVAC ductwork and measure sealing success. You will be provided with before and after leakage measurements to guarantee success.

Typical duct renovation also includes straightening or replacing ducts, sealing air handlers with proper materials, hanging ducts where necessary, replacing registers to improve proper air throw and installing basic fresh air systems.
